Design Decisions:

For the girls' version, a whimsical unicorn theme was chosen, leveraging the creature's appeal and associations with magic and friendship. A soft pastel color palette creates a cheerful, child-friendly aesthetic. The watercolor illustration style makes the characters approachable for young children. Playful fonts complement the illustrations and contribute to a cohesive design. A spacious layout with clear sections provides ample room for children to personalize their books. Consistent design elements, like stars and diamonds, reinforce the playful theme. Custom illustrations on every page add visual interest. A contrasting dinosaur theme was developed for the boys' version, maintaining functionality while appealing to different interests.

Project Goals:

The primary goals for this project were to:

• Create an Engaging and Appealing Product for Young Children: Design a friendship book that would capture the interest of kindergarten-aged children and encourage them to participate.

• Develop Distinct Versions for Boys and Girls: Create two separate versions with themes that resonate with each gender (unicorns for girls, dinosaurs for boys).

• Provide a Space for Cherishing Memories: Design a book where children can record and preserve their early friendships and kindergarten experiences.

• Design Clear and Functional Layouts: Develop page layouts that are easy for children to understand and fill in, with designated spaces for photos, drawings, and written information.

• Illustrate Every Page with Custom Artwork: Create original illustrations that are consistent with the chosen themes and appeal to the target audience.
